Broadcast Journalism

Although I don't have a long list of broadcast journalism experience, I hope that what I lack in quantity I make up for in quality and amount of work put in.

Social Media

Using social media to present broadcast journalism is a perfect way for our publication to be more accessible to the student body. Since social media like Instagram is such a large and commonly used platform, my sophomore year I decided to try it out. In this instance, I provided a news update about Former President Trump's impeachment and got student opinions.

Behind the Cover: Indigenous in ICCSD

For every cover story I worked on my junior year, I initiated the creation of the Behind the Cover series. Modeled after the New York Times' own series, this is was an idea that was pitched in our staff "Inspiration Minutes" almost every cycle, every year. I suggested we make one and offered to organize it. I wrote the script and storyboard, as well as delegated speaking parts to my co-writers. Then, I gathered design content from our designer and edited the audio and video myself.

Behind the Cover: Detached

The next time I worked on the cover story, I was working as a designer. Still, I wanted to continue the series, so I communicated with the writers who agreed to write their part of the script since I wasn't as involved in the writing process as a designer. I wrote my section, and led the project as a whole. I also once again edited the audio and video.

After the first video, I was able to plan ahead and know what kinds of footage I wanted well in advance. As the designer and artist, I made sure to get screen recordings of me working to gather some more eye-capturing footage.

We Are the BSU

Having a read-through of our cover story with real audio from the writers and interviewees was a journalism bucket list item for my Co-EIC, so I was happy to make it happen. Writers recorded themselves reading through the writing and shared interview transcripts with me. From there, I edited this podcast. It was a perfect way to emphasize a powerful piece and make it more accessible.
